Lately, I have epidurals on the brain. I went to the doctor today and she confirmed my suspicions– I could have this baby any day now.
And he may or may not be Yao Ming.

This is how I look:

This is how I feel:

And if anyone can’t see how I’m different from Violet Beauregard, let me point out– SHE’S BLUE.
I’m not complaining. Despite the fact that I’m less than comfortable, my husband and I feel extremely blessed that we are about to become a family of 4. It took a while for us to get pregnant with baby number 2, and we’ve had a few scares during this pregnancy. So really, I feel very thankful that I can make jokes about the size of this kid, and my physical appearance.
And speaking of my husband… he really got the shaft on Father’s Day.
This is what he deserves:

This is what he got:

… the last bit of cookie dough and remnants from the junk drawer. My 3-year-old and I came up with this while hubby was out cutting the grass in 100 degree heat. Aren’t we sweet? He didn’t seem to mind that we ate the cookie after he went to take a shower. Poor daddy only got one bite.
So what was my point anyway? Oh… that laughter is the best medicine. But please, please cross your fingers that I make it to the hospital in time to get an epidural. Otherwise I have a feeling I won’t be laughing while giving birth to Yao Ming.

ps- coming up later this week, I conclude my Phenomenal Woman series with an interview with Bria Simpson, author of “The Balanced Mom: Raising Your Kids Without Losing Yourself.”
Many thanks to Doretha Walker, Jennie B in SC, Katherine Center and Simpson for taking time out of their busy schedules to answer my questions. Ladies, you inspire me! If you enjoyed what they had to say, please pay a visit to their blogs and let them know!

Angie! I think you look fabulous…BUT I had to laugh about the picture of how you feel b/c it wasn’t too long ago I felt the same way! We had problems as well getting prego the second time along with problems with other pregancies so I can somewhat relate…maybe!?!?!
! Thanks for a good laugh and take care!!!!
Anyways, I am so glad that you and baby boy #2 are doing well and can’t wait to see pics when he gets here!!!! I hope you make it to the hospital in time
I agree that you look Fabulous, Darling! Did you hear me? FABULOUS!!
Bless your heart, I can only imagine how you must feel though. (And in this summer heat? Oy vey.) I’m crossing my fingers, arms, legs and toes that you’ll make it to the hospital before the Little One makes his appearance.
I absolutely cannot wait to see pics and read about the big event. I know it will go amazingly well and you’ll write a wonderful post about it– making us all giggle and swoon at the same time.
Hugs!!
Sweetie, I’ve always known that you had a great sense of humor, but, this was hilarious! I also pray you make it to the hospital in time and am anxiously awaiting the birth of this little guy! The joke is on us because he’s thrown us several curve balls! And, I believe he’s laughing at all of us! I hope he is blessed with your great sense of humor! Much love!
Note to self: Try to hold back from reading Angie’s blog while at work. Why? Because, I laughed so loud at the Yao Ming reference, three agents popped their heads out of their offices and asked if everything was ok. Too funny and a great post as always! Best of wishes with everything, look forward to seeing pictures soon!!
You are too funny!
I think dear sistergirlfriend that if your baby looks like Yao Ming, you will have some SERIOUS explaining to do! Part of me hope that you do NOT make it to the hospital on time because you will weave that adventure into a wonderful story. Okay, that is selfish. I hope that you make it on time.
Doretha, that was just WRONG! lol. But you know me, anything for a good story.
I’m glad you all are laughing with me! Thanks for your comments.
Congratulations on the upcoming baby! You look FABULOUS I don’t know what you’re talking about!
This had me in tears! You look ADORABLE!
