I’m a wife, mother, writer, para-educator, Sci-Fi geek and avoider of housework living in Scottsdale, Arizona. Like most busy working moms, I’m forever trying to find balance between resisting the urge to scream at my teenage sons and successfully getting all the dog hair off my clothes. (Regular happy hour attendance with my husband helps.) I’m currently on summer break from the school district and about to dive into a big revision of my first novel. If you know any literary agents or want a good laugh, visit me at my blog and website Method to the Madness at www.dawnmaria.com.

Dawn in her Battlestar Galactica Viper Pilot costume at San Diego ComicCon last summer. "I'm a real advocate for silly fun," she says.
I’m flawed…
The Easter decorations are still up. (Hey, I’ve been busy!)
I’m fabulous…
I haven’t given up on my dream of writing a novel and for being married for 20 years to a wonderful , supportive man.
Words of Wisdom:
Women are constantly being told that it’s okay to say No and that we should do so more often. I think we’ve become so good at saying No that we’ve forgotten how to say Yes. Say Yes to the book club you’ve always wanted to join. Say Yes to your son who wants a ride to the mall. Say Yes to volunteering once a month for a cause you’re passionate about. Most importantly, say Yes to the activities and people who lift you up. It doesn’t need to be a schedule busting time commitment, but a little bit of fun goes a long way.
