What would you say to the 16-year-old you?

Right now on Twitter, folks are sending messages to the younger version of themselves, using the hashtag #tweetyoursixteenyearoldself. People use hashtags to categorize posts and start a conversation. Without thinking much about it, I tweeted this: You don't have to become someone you're not to be loved.

And then I started to cry. Hello, Twitter therapy. I can honestly say Twitter has never made me cry before. I could also blame the tears on the Annie Lennox CD I recently dug out from under the seat of my car. She has a way of making gut-wrenching pain sound so beautiful. Regardless, Twitter hit a nerve with me yesterday.

So.... if you could pass along a piece of advice or encouragement to the younger you, what would that be?
